My Background

Jim Sechrist is an innovative, hard working and versatile individual. Jim has had a long and distinguished career in the U.S. Federal Government both in the military and as a Federal Civil Servant. With this mix of experience Jim has been able to view the Federal Procurement system from all angles.

Jim began his career in the United States Air Force in 1959. During his Air Force Service Jim worked in advisory roles assisting Base Contracts Officers. In that position he helped develop directives and policies that manage and govern successful Base Contracts Programs. Jim was often called by Base Commanders to use his expertise to assist in turning around Contracting Offices that received headquarters unsatisfactory performance reviews.

After retiring from the Air Force, Jim continued his career in the Acquisition career field. Jim continued to distinguish himself in the procurement field. Jim instituted many policies and changes to the local procurement systems where he was employed further distinguishing his career in the procurement field. Jim served as Contracting Officer with an Unlimited Contracting authority. Jim was a major player in establishing the Quality Assurance Programs guidelines for Air Force use.
